First Southern Baptist Church of Chula Vista California

Bible-Centric Worship Services

Proclamation of the Gospel is one of the main functions of a Christian church.  Sound Bible-centered preaching is offered from the pulpit during the Sunday worship services as part of our regular worship services.

Bible Study and Discipleship

Bible study is vital to our church.  There is a place for everyone in our Sunday morning Bible study (Sunday School).  Sunday School is the foundational strategy in our church for discipleship, evangelism, outreach, ministry, and fellowship.  Wednesday evening offers youth Bible study and adult Bible study taught by the Pastor.  Additional discipleship courses are offered during the year.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer is a necessary tool in the growth of our church.  We spend time in prayer each Wednesday evening praying for the needs of people and our church.  The Senior Adult Ministry sponsors a more intimate prayer time each Thursday night.  We believe in intercessory prayer and have a prayer chain available.  If you have a prayer need, call the church office (619)426-4211 or email prayer@fsbccv.org.

Music Ministry

Music plays an important part in the life of our church.  A key element of our worship is congregational singing of hymns and praise songs.  The format is traditional in tone and includes a blend of choirs, special groups, soloists, in a variety of musical styles.  Seasonal musicals are presented at Christmas and Easter, as well as other special musical events and concerts.

Preschool Ministry

Preschoolers are very important to us.  During Sunday School experienced and well-trained teachers provide excellent learning experiences for infants through Kindergarten.  Extended Teaching Care is provided for infants through Pre-K during the morning and evening worship services.

Children's Ministry

The children's Sunday School classes are biblically based, complete with exciting Bible learning activities.  In summer, Vacation Bible School (VBS) brings biblical lessons, crafts, recreation and missions in a one-week fun-packed adventure.  A "sermon" just for kids is also included in each Sunday morning worship service.  Following the Kid's Time sermon, they go to a Bible activities session for the remainder of the morning worship time.

Youth Ministry

The youth program provides meaningful activities and Bible studies for our youth growing them in discipleship, fellowship, and Bible knowledge.  Lots of fun activities are included throughout the year.  The youth ministry includes students grades 7-12.

Men's Ministry

The Men’s Ministry is not a separate entity in our church. On the contrary, we can overlap and compliment other ministries, such as Sunday School and outreach (FAITH). We can assist with other ministries, as well as schedule events for fellowship by ourselves, (e.g., monthly breakfasts, outdoor or sporting events).

Men’s Ministry Goals:

* Develop friendship and cooperation of men across all age groups at FSBC.
* Provide an environment were men are challenged, stretched, in their walk with Christ through informal Bible study.
* Organize and attend events within or outside the church: fellowship, service, spiritual training.
* Be a positive Christian influence in the church family and the community at large.

Women's Ministry

Our Women's Ministry has as its purpose the promotion of evangelism, fellowship, service, ministry, and encouragement.  They minister to and encourage each other so that in turn they minister to women outside the church.

Deacon Ministry

Each family represented in our membership is assigned to one of our deacons.  The deacons provide personal ministry and service to meet the needs of our members.
